Ted Huisinga Tribute

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we are announcing the loss of Ted Huisinga at age 95. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, passing peacefully on the morning of June 17, 2020, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He wouldn’t have wanted it any other way; being with those who meant the most to him, including his beloved wife Audrey of 70+ years. We can celebrate the fact that he lived his life to the fullest prioritizing his faith, his family and his passion for his work.

Since 1951, Ted has been an integral part of our organization and remained passionate and involved throughout his life. He led the companies in partnership with Ray Norling for many years. They began the trend of investing in new technology, taking risks and established those roots for us early on which still guide us today. Ted was a visionary, even at 95 he was consistently looking towards the future. In his own words, “I live in tomorrow – and it’s been that way as long as I can remember.” This mindset of living in tomorrow showed in his decision making as well as where he would spend eternity.

Ted has been involved in many boards and committees associated with the Minnesota and National turkey industry, including being past President of the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association.  He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at both the State and National level. In 2013, Ted, along with Ray Norling, was awarded the Siehl Prize for Excellence in Agriculture, often referred to as the Nobel Prize for Minnesota agriculture.

Throughout the years, Ted has cultivated many trusting relationships. His word was his bond and he greatly appreciated those he worked with over the years. He has left an immense impact on the industry, the organization and the community as a whole. This is truly a great loss and he will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
